An Ace day at the Golf Course

We recently sponsored The Bournemouth and Poole College Foundation Golf Dayannual charity golf tournament along with Portsmouth FC manager Harry Redknapp. The popular tournament helps raise funds for students in need at The College, and is always well attended by the local business community.

Marion Davies of The College Foundation said "Ace Office Supplies is very supportive of our charity and I am very pleased that theyhave beenour main sponsors for our golf tournament this year. We look forward to working with them to raise much needed funds for our students. Harry Redknapp has given us his unstinting support since we set up the golf tournament and we are delighted he continues to put his name to our event

The tournament took place on Thursday 17th July 2008 at Canford Magna Golf Club. Around £4,000 has been raised to support disadvantaged students at The Bournemouth and Poole College, thanks to the annual Charity Golf Tournament organised by The College Foundation.

Twenty one teams took part in the event held at Canford Magna Golf Club last month, with the team from RWPS LLP scooping the winners' trophies.

Second place went to the ‘Goadsby Big Hitters', third place to Keytek and in fourth position, last year's champions ‘The College Hopefuls'.Organiser Marion Davies commented, "We would like to thank those who sponsored us or entered teams. I would particularly like to thank Ace Office Supplies and Harry Redknapp for backing the tournament, although disappointingly, Harry was unable to be there on the day due to football commitments."

The presentations were made in the club house by Adrian Carter, Managing Director of Ace Office Supplies, with other prizes going to Simon Banks of HGW Solicitors for 'Nearest the Pin'; Dan Mackett (The College Hopefuls) for the ‘Longest Drive'; David Williams or RWPS for the ‘Chipping Competition' and Rodney Wallis, HSBC for the ‘Putting Competition.'

Marion added, "We are very grateful to those companies who entered a team this year in what is a particularly difficult ecomonic climate. The funds raised from this tournament will help to support our learning and physically disabled students visit to the United Kingdom Sailing Academy on the Isle of Wight where they learn new skills and experience a degree of independence. We truly appreciate the support that we receive from local business, and would not be in a position to help students were it not for their backing.
